First I would make sure I didn't need them. For example, check out www.liutilities.com/products/wintaskspro/processlibrary/ for information on the 2 processes you mentioned. You may change your mind!

If you only see the two you mention - spoolsv.exe and alg.exe - via CTRL+ALT+DEL and not Msconfig or the registry "Run" keys then I agree with Mister2 - you should leave them alone.

If they do appear in Msconfig or the registry "Run" keys they'll be virus related.

See http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup_content.php for more information on identifying and disabling startup programs.

We really need a closer look. Please do the following:

Go to CastleCops Link/downloads-cat-14.html, and download Hijack This.

Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, and save the log somewhere.

NOTE: Most of what Hijack This lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.

Next, go to the Spyware - Hijack This section of this board.

Press "New Topic", explain your problem, and copy and paste the contents of the Hijack This log into your new message. You'll get expert assistance in dealing with your problem.

This topic is now closed.
