Thanks, Cel!

(Thread title edited to include the new version name and set thread as an Announcement.)

The major feature addition to WinPatrol 2008 to manage ActiveX components adds yet another valuable asset to the already feature-rich WinPatrol.

Do I need to uninstall WinPatrol before I can install the newer version. Or is it ok to install the newer version over the old one???

I closed down WP and did a uninstall of WP and then installed the newer version.

Takes time to see what is listed in the ActiveX tab.

Also I have the sames bugs as in the 2007 version.
1. Some times when clicking on WP it takes 30 to 40 seconds to open.
2. Scotty does not bark on alerts.

This is on Windows 98SE.

Chocka, I have not found it necessary to uninstall the prior version to upgrade WinPatrol on my Windows Vista machine.

All I do is download the new version and prior to installing, right click Scotty in the system tray and select "Exit Program". It is a normal installation from there with all prior options remembered as well as my WinPatrol Plus code.

@hewee -- I think it boils down to Scotty is just waiting for you to upgrade that machine. Very Happy

Corrine,

It should no be 98 that is the bug. WP is made for 95 and up.
Even the alerts set at realtime has not worked right in the pass version. It was very 10 that it work right or the best.
Like using hostsman to update the hosts file it has 4 hosts files listed. As each one gets installed Scotty was popping up as each one got installed so scotty popped up right away.
After that who knows how long it takes to have scotty pop up. Sometimes if I open WP then scotty will pop up but still that is not right.
Now these are alerts I should get in real time and not min's later or even longer where I forget I did something and scotty pops up. What if something was to happen where scotty alert was on something I don't know about and if I knew I would kill or disable it right away? I have to know about something first.
