I also wonder if anyone else using Firefox has noticed prefetching when doing google searches for not all, but some major terms,

From the article you refered to:

Let me repeat that: I clicked on a link in one page, and Firefox silently, without any indication to me, downloaded a large executable file in the background and placed it in my browser's cache.

Thats one reason I don't care for prefetch. It's not just an issue with google, any site can do that. I suspect other browsers will also prefetch when the tag is there, though I haven't tried.
For me, I just remove link tags that prefetch.

I can't figure out how to get the javascript pop-ups working to watch video on yahoo news, for example:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20050525/ap_on_re_mi_ea/iraq
I've tried disabling all the usual suspects in terms of javascript - any ideas? Adding it to the whitelist isn't an idea either, since the ads are quite annoying. _________________ http://blog.fallingbeam.org

Just found out how to disable prefetching in Firefox
Entering the following to users,js
| Code: | | user_pref("network.prefetch-next",false); |
or go to About:config & double click on "network.prefetch-next", changing it from true to false.

I'm having a big problem with the current Grypen set, Opera 8 and America's job bank website(www.ajb.org/ny/). The site just doesn't load at all unless I turn off proxy servers in Opera. Bypassing proxomitron doesn't seem to work for me.
Any ideas?

Hi JP,
This is Higgy from Opera Forums.
I was able to get that site to work by going to Opera's Preferences\Advanced\Network\Proxy Servers, checking the box for "Do not use proxy on the addresses below", and adding "www.ajb.org" to the list.
That way, you can use Proxo with other sites.
See if that works for you.

That's a great workaround, but I just wondered what in the filterset caused that problem - if anything.

Here is where I get my SSL stuff from...
<sidenote:>
a question for an admin, if I may:
what is the new (at least I've never seen it before) "Warnings : 1" bit underneath some user's names?
just curious (please don't kill the cat)...

Ah, that was my suspicion...
That is COOL!
WAY cool...
I mean, not that you got 'flagged', but that there IS a 'warning system' now in place...
