Yep guess we all have startup troubles in some way.
Seems I read something years ago about how you can add a delay in the time after something loads. So if you can do that to each of them then maybe they will get started and load in the right order each time.
But doing all that is something I don't know anything about.

I have used a program in the past called systrayX and it let you have total control over your systray startup. I haven't used it in a while, but it was helpful for my systray problem a couple of years ago. It would "force" the icons to load and I believe you could set delays and icon order and such. This program has a lot of cool features, but since I found a way to fix my startup problem, I stopped using it. You can check it out here http://www.xdesksoftware.com/systrayx.html

I did have Scotty disappear once yesterday (but he was still protecting) but since I downloaded the newest version, it hasn't happened again.

Thanks SusanW but I think I will pass on that as it would be another thing to load and I got things under control and or now what to do to fix things when they happen. Smile

This is something I just found that will delay things at boot up like I was talking about in the other post.

Startup Delayer v2.1.10

Quote:
Can you learn another language in the time it takes for your machine to boot? Do you turn on your PC when you go to bed, so it's finished booting by the time you get home from work the next day?

When Windows loads it's Startup file, it attempts to load every program in there at the same time. Therefore if you have quite a lot of programs starting when Windows starts, each program will try and grab CPU time so that it can load.

If each program tries to do this at the same time, you soon notice the slow down that occurs, due to your CPU trying to help all the programs to load, and your hard disk accessing multiple files.

Startup Delayer allows you to setup how many seconds after Windows has started, to load each program.

For Example:
If you have your mail program and a special clock starting up, then you can make your mail start say 10 seconds after Windows has loaded, and then the special clock start 20 seconds after Windows Starts.

Compatible with Windows 98/ME/2000/XP

Anyone know anything about this program or try it?

Hello Bill...

I am now running WP Pro 9.7.4.0.

My experience of the last couple of releases is that you have well and truly nailed Scotty's disappearing act.

Congratulations!

My pooch almost never appears after any boot-ups when I click on my user icon immediately after it appears. User icon, meaning my personal desktop start-up icon for Windows XP setup for multiple users. If I wait at that screen for a minute or so, it seems to solve the disappearing doggy magic trick. I have also discovered that the slower the computers system is processor wise, the longer you have to wait before signing on. How many start-up programs you have also seems to affect this situation. The more not the merrier. That goes for start-up programs in general of course. Has any progress been made on this problem? I am running latest version of WinPatrol, but I'm guessing Microsoft is not very motivated to help. Especially with Vista out now.

I don't see a date for my post above. Maybe because I posted it as a guest? I am a member now, so as soon as this one posts, I guess I'll have that answered, huh? Yep! That was it alrighty! Smarty
