I'm glad to tell you that Microsoft has released an official patch for the problem earlier than planned!
It can be downloaded at the following address:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/Bulletin/MS06-001.mspx
I urge everyone to download and install the official patch.
You do not need my hotfix anymore.
If you have previously installed it, please uninstall it now.
It can be uninstalled before or after applying the official patch
from the Add/Remove Programs window.
Thank you all for your great support and help!

There are many end users not in a corporate environment who are grateful for the time you took to make the hotfix for us when the need was so great ... and you risked criticism for doing so ...
TREMENDOUS THANKS!!! ...

Congratulations Ilfak
Does running the new patch from Microsoft make it now unnecessary to run a check on your system to see if you are vulnerable? ( or is this like a virus that must be removed before you install the patch?

Hello, Ilfak,
next words are addressed to You only and can seem extremely off-matter and late. Get to these pages very accidentally i'm one who is still keeping really deep impressions of Your personal programmer's talents (that's - yes - for all those years), and i'm unbelieveably happy to see all these today's historic pages reflecting Your success to come world-famous man going to help everyone in our pc-troubles.
So once again please take some best wishes to You (and to Your friends who helps) for all Your future professional and for Your any another ways and days. And for Your future New-Year-nights too, of course, because not only every the programmer can understand these "nights" now. They need just taking a short look here, at Your "small" gift to our's 2006 from its start...
And that all what I see here - it all is a great! And it all is a great human's!
That's me, Your first "assistant" (smth. about recogn. programming, year 1984 or smth. near)
Eugene T.
(and maybe sorry for lang., not englishman, You know)
Be serious. Smile. You made one more right thing for this wrong world.
With respect and appreciate,

Hi Eugene,
I'm happy to hear from you!! I remember how we worked together almost 20 years ago, days and nights I wouldn't call anyone 'assistant' though - we had a common project and it was fun to work on it! You know my mail and you can send me a message anytime (I don't know yours). Thank you for your nice message!

Thank you Ilfak.
I downloaded the hotfix, and believe it helped protect me, but I'm not adept enough yet to know all the ins and outs. And I have downloaded the official patch now.
But Ilfak, do I need to re-register shimgvw.dll? Thank you for your help.
