Lars Hederer's ERUNT is, quite simply, the best Windows registry backup utility there is. ( http://www.larshederer.homepage.t-online.de/erunt/ )
Starting with version 1.1F (last fall), it adds AUTOBACK.EXE to the user's startup folder which then automatically backs up the registry to C:\WINDOWS\ERDNT\mm-dd-yyyy\ each time the system boots, resulting in numerous backups. Each folder also includes an executable to restore that backup.
This little utility is saving at least one of my client's each week from lengthy bouts with spyware or other Windows mishaps.
Please add it to the startup list as a known good guy, OK?
