first, the most common usage of the term "phishing", describes fake web pages that pretend to be trustworth institution (like banks, paypal, ebay, etc.) so you will log in by accident and they can steal your password.
see http://www.phishtank.com/what_is_phishing.php for more

also, be sure to include the full headers (when possible) when forwarding.

hmm, not sure if this one is a money mule (they really do recruit you to help launder their dirty money), or an advance-fee fraud, or an identity theft fraud, or some combination of the above.

Welcome to Castlecops, Danny. We appreciate your curiosity and questions.

Also, do you just Report Spam in AOL when you get the Nigerian fraud letters or any other spam for that matter? That is the easiest thing to do in AOL email, but if you want to make the extra effort to report fraud, please do so by all means.

You can create a spamcop account for free and submit spamming complaints to them. Spam is fraud as you are already probably aware.

As with anything, you can learn by reading websites which teach you how to report internet fraud. And along the way, you will probably learn more about computers (by using the Internet) as you go.

Also, keep in mind, if you haven't: use one email address for family and friends online. Keep that email address secret so as to minimize spam being sent to it. Use another email address when you sign up for things online, or share your email account with those you don't know, such as posting your email address online. Keep the email accounts separate.

You can protect your computer online from viruses and other attacks (malware, etc) by reading this (and you learn more about how your PC works as well):

That e-mail address should of course read reports@banksafeonline.org.uk.
