|
|
Downloaded the Flash version and of course launched the .exe to get the feel of it. When I exited it and launched my regular installed Winpatrol to grab the keycode, I noticed that running the Flash version had erased the Plus registration info from the installed version.
Question is: bug or design feature? _________________ Kitten: small homicidal muffin on legs: affects human sensibilities to the point of endowing the most wanton and ruthless acts of destruction with near mythical overtones of cuteness. Not recommended for beginners, get at least two. [Fafnir]

This isn't a WinPatrol Flash issue as much as it's a new security addition found in the latest versions of WinPatrol.
If your old code was invalid WinPatrol will remove it. While in previous versions Scotty was pretty flexible for errors in your code, (I's instead of 1's) the new builds require a real code which is verified online.
Just send us an Email with your name and I'll look up your code and Email it back to you.

Perhaps I wasn't clear enough I have my code, it's valid.
Or did you mean that the USB flash version invalidates the code and forces people to re-enter the code in order to validate it online?
Because for me, when I briefly launched the Flash version, end result was that registration data from original fixed Winpatrol installation was gone. _________________ Kitten: small homicidal muffin on legs: affects human sensibilities to the point of endowing the most wanton and ruthless acts of destruction with near mythical overtones of cuteness. The Flash version will not invalidate your code unless there was an error or typo when it was originally entered in WinPatrol. I'm not saying you had an invalid or keygen code, but if there was a typo or extra space, older versions of WinPatrol would have allowed it.
At least that's what should be happening.
If you have WinPatrol 15 on your system and the code was accepted, WinPatrol Flash should not be removing it. If so then perhaps it is a bug.
Aslo, If you enter your name and code in WPFlash it will be stored as a local file and not in the registry so to re-activate PLUS on your system you'll need to be running the normal tabbed interface.
If you still have problems you'll want to Email me because then I can check your code and I'm not always going to be checking for messages here.

Well it certainly is possible I had made a typo when entering the code. Back then I was using v14, and v15 was installed on top of it.
However, I do have my code and it does validate, so there really is no problem. I was interested to know why this would happen. After all, losing registration data from program like that is not normal. _________________ Kitten: small homicidal muffin on legs: affects human sensibilities to the point of endowing the most wanton and ruthless acts of destruction with near mythical overtones of cuteness. On further testing it appears this is a bug.
Once you add your PLUS code to your Flash Drive it won't happen again but it will be fixed in future versions.
Thanks!

Cool enough. Glad I could provide information to swat this bug. _________________ Kitten: small homicidal muffin on legs: affects human sensibilities to the point of endowing the most wanton and ruthless acts of destruction with near mythical overtones of cuteness.
